Sales Cadence
Outreach cadence, sales sequence
Definition
A sales cadence is a planned sequence of touchpoints – calls, emails and LinkedIn messages – used to reach and engage a prospect over a set period of time.
What does a sales cadence look like?
A typical B2B cadence runs 2–4 weeks with 8–12 touchpoints across channels, for example: day 1 email, day 2 call and LinkedIn connection, day 4 follow-up email, day 7 call, and so on.
Key elements
- Channels: phone, email, LinkedIn and sometimes video.
- Timing: number of touches and days between them.
- Message: relevant, personalised content for each step.
- Exit rules: when to stop, pause or hand over.
Why it matters
Most meetings are booked after several touchpoints. A defined cadence makes outreach consistent, measurable and easy to improve.
